Warm, olive, neutral, cool: the undertone guide for Indian skin
Your wrist veins know things.
Published 21 days ago · Calibrated for Indian skin
For decades, the Indian beauty industry collapsed our immense diversity into four vague, reductive words: fair, wheatish, dusky, and deep. In doing so, it missed the entire secret to colour harmony: undertone. Two women with identical surface depth can look completely mismatched in the same foundation if one has a golden warm base and the other has a muted olive undertone.
Decoding the four undertone families
Warm undertones feature rich golden, yellow, and peach undertones that glow in sunlight and pair seamlessly with yellow gold jewellery. Neutral undertones maintain an equal balance of warm and cool pigments, rarely clashing with any hue. Cool undertones reflect blue, pink, or red notes, which are more common in northern regions but exist across all tone families. Olive undertones, the most underserved category in South Asia, contain a distinctive subtle greenish cast with neutral-to-cool undertones that turn orange in standard warm foundations.
“Olive skin isn't darker skin; it's a hue dimension that exists from Pearl all the way to Cocoa.”

The three-point wrist and jaw check
To determine your undertone without specialized camera vision, look at your inner wrist veins in soft morning daylight. Distinctly green veins signal warm; blue or violet veins indicate cool; a teal mix suggests neutral; and veins that look grey-green or disappear against your skin usually signify olive. Pair this test with your sun response: do you tan to pure gold, burn immediately, or tan to an ashy bronze?
Glowcart's six tone families (Pearl, Sand, Honey, Amber, Cinnamon, and Cocoa) decouple depth from value judgements. Once you understand your tone family and undertone coordinate, every base and lip product falls into perfect optical sync.

It's rarely the formula. It's usually the undertone.
